Jay's film experience began on the Universal Pictures' project, Back To TheFuture: The Ride, with director and visual effects pioneer, Douglas Trumbull (2001: A Space Odyssey.) The exposure and excitement from this film triggered a series of Boston-based film jobs, including Housesitter and Against The Law. During those years, Jay met producers Michelle Wright (What Dreams May Come) and Daniel Lupi (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) who would become his mentors in the years to follow. It was during the filming of So I Married an Axe Murderer, in San Francisco, where Jay was introduced to Academy Award winning Cinematographer John A. Alonzo (Chinatown, Steel Magnolias) He was enlisted by Alonzo to adapt the Winston M. Estes Depression Era novel, Another Part of the House, inspiring a departure from production and a renewed focus on writing. In the past seven years, Jay has written the life story of Arthur Fiedler and The Boston Pops, and six original screenplays. He is the co-producer of "Orphan." "Dirt Boy" marks his feature-film debut as writer/director. |
